ZOMBIE Artist Profile: Jason D'Aquino (Z07.14)

Yes, that's right! I love you kids so much that, this month, I'm posting another Artist Profile. Heck, in honour of Zombruary, I might even post another one tomorrow.

Artist Profile: Jason D'Aquino

I recently discovered the haunting artwork of Jason D'Aquino thanks to Miles Thompson, who sent me a message on MySpace suggesting I see about posting some of Jason's work for Zombruary 2007. Needless to say, I'm real glad Miles sent me that message.

Jason D'Aquino creates artwork on an incredibly small scale. In fact, many of his works are smaller than one inch by one inch in dimension. Jason chooses to work on found surfaces, such as matchbooks, 18th century animal-skin vellum, and antinque ledger pages.



















Influences include (and here's where the Zombie connection comes in) HP Lovecraft, Henry Darger, and Hans Bellmer. His drawings have graced the pages of the New York Times, Juxtapoz, ITA, the Stranger, and Gulliver Magazine.
