Tiki London: Cuming Museum

For our upcoming Tiki London limited edition print,
Tiki Racer and I came up with a list of London's 10 Most Tiki Landmarks. Next on our list (in alphabetical order) is the Cuming Museum.

The little known Cuming Museum, located in South London, is home to a number of objects brought to England on the three Pacific voyages of Captain Cook. Tikis, Hawaiian feather cloaks and more - along with the rest of the Cuming's exotic and arcane collections - make this small museum an excellent off-the-beaten-path destination.

Check back soon for the next in our list of London's 10 Most Tiki Landmarks and for more details about the Tiki London limited edition print.

The Tiki London limited edition print will first go on sale at the 2007 London Luau.

Sounds like a place I need to see on my next visit to London.

Unfortunate name though...:-)

Yeah, it's a great little place. Very Victorian. A regular visitor to London like you should consider checking it out. It's definitely worth an hour or so of someone's time, especially if in the area.

As for the name, well ... yes. It's unfortunate. Did you know that there's also a similar South London museum called the Horniman?

Yes, I'd heard of the Horniman. Britain is filled with snicker-worthy names like that (at least to us Yanks). In Reading, my hotel was next to a road called St. Mary's Butts.

Huh-huh...Butts.
